Groomsman
Carlo Pescara
Met Daniel during their first tech job.
Carlo and Daniel’s friendship began in the most unlikely way – they were both the awkward new guys at their first tech job, sitting alone in the company cafeteria during their first week. Carlo noticed Daniel reading a book about sustainable architecture during lunch and struck up a conversation about green building technologies. What started as work small talk evolved into a genuine friendship built on shared interests in technology, environmental issues, and their mutual struggle to navigate office politics.
As junior engineers at the same renewable energy startup, Carlo and Daniel often found themselves working late on projects, grabbing dinner together, and commiserating about impossible deadlines and demanding clients. Carlo, who works in software optimization, and Daniel, focused on hardware systems, made a great team on cross-functional projects and often bounced ideas off each other.
Their friendship deepened when they discovered they both loved outdoor adventures as a way to decompress from their tech-heavy work lives. Weekend hiking trips became a regular tradition, and Carlo was the one who convinced Daniel to try rock climbing, which became one of Daniel’s favorite hobbies. Carlo has also been Daniel’s wingman through various dating attempts, offering advice and moral support through awkward dating app conversations and failed first dates.
When Daniel started dating Emma, Carlo could immediately tell this relationship was different. Daniel stopped complaining about being single and started asking Carlo for advice on date ideas instead of post-date analysis. Carlo was one of the first people to meet Emma, and he was impressed by how she genuinely listened when Daniel explained his latest renewable energy project and asked thoughtful follow-up questions.
Carlo was actually the one who helped Daniel plan the proposal logistics – researching the best camping spots, checking weather conditions, and serving as Daniel’s practice audience for his proposal speech (which went through many, many revisions). When Daniel texted him the engagement photo from the mountains, Carlo felt genuinely proud of his friend for finding someone who made him this happy.
As a groomsman, Carlo is excited to celebrate Daniel’s marriage to someone who clearly brings out the best in him. He’s already planning future double dates and couple camping trips, and he’s secretly relieved that Daniel’s wedding planning stress has made him even more organized at work.
