Marcus

Best Man

Marcus Johnson

Daniel's brother and lifelong supporter.

Marcus is Daniel’s older brother by three years, which means he’s been looking out for Daniel since the day their parents brought home a tiny, crying baby who would grow up to be his best friend. Growing up, Marcus was the one who taught Daniel to ride a bike, helped him with math homework, and defended him from middle school bullies who made fun of Daniel’s braces and obsession with building things.

While Marcus chose a career in finance and Daniel went into engineering, their bond never wavered. Marcus was there for every milestone – cheering from the stands at Daniel’s high school robotics competitions, helping him move into his first apartment, and celebrating when Daniel landed his dream job in renewable energy. Marcus always knew Daniel was destined for great things, but he also knew his little brother could be awkward around women and overthink everything.

So when Daniel started talking nonstop about this girl Emma he’d met at a coffee shop, Marcus was intrigued. When Daniel showed up to their monthly brother dinner with a genuine smile and stories about Emma’s latest design projects, Marcus knew this was serious. Meeting Emma confirmed what Marcus suspected – she brought out the best in Daniel while loving him exactly as he was, awkward jokes and all.

Marcus was the one Daniel called in a panic the night before the proposal, second-guessing his speech and worrying Emma might say no. Marcus talked him through his nerves and reminded him that Emma loved him for who he was, not for perfect proposals. When Daniel texted the next day with a photo of Emma’s ring and her tear-streaked happy face, Marcus may have gotten a little emotional at his desk.

As Best Man, Marcus takes his job seriously – he’s planned an unforgettable bachelor party, written a speech that balances heartfelt with embarrassing, and he’ll make sure Daniel doesn’t trip walking down the aisle. He’s never seen his brother this happy, and he couldn’t be more thrilled to officially welcome Emma to the family.
